A new puppy brings delight into your family. His rambunctious antics and affectionate responses have everyone giggling with happiness. Here are some tips to help you complete this training successfully.
Potty training a puppy can be a harsh task at times, but not impossible. You have to remember that the puppy doesn't know that when they go to the bathroom inside that it is wrong. Try your best to keep an eye on your puppy and if it starts looking like it has to go to the bathroom let it outside, after the puppy goes to the bathroom praise the puppy so it knows it did the right thing.
When you get a new puppy, the best way to train it is to remove the temptation to behave badly in the first place. For example, if you have a puppy that is inclined to chew on shoes, store all of the shoes in the house out of reach of the dog. This way, the behavior doesn't have to be trained out of the dog later.
Sometimes a dog trainer must punish their dog. Punishment does not eliminate the behavior the trainer wants to discourage, though; it merely suppresses it. Canny trainers know that punishing a dog only encourages them to hide the behavior for which they are being punished. It is better to entirely replace an undesirable behavior than to punish a pet for engaging in it.
When considering a behavioral problem, consider how you might be contributing to it. For instance, some dogs react to types of people based on a single negative experience. This history of reaction may make owners act guarded around triggers, which reinforces the dog's anxiety. Check your body language at the door when you are looking to change a reaction.
A dog may be difficult to train sometimes but that does not mean it is impossible. Any dog can be trained with the proper knowledge of the subject. Now that you have gained some knowledge you can start to train your dog regardless of any traits it may have.
